Overview
The payment methods you can offer with Paytrim, the operations each one supports and the values to use in the API.
With one integration you can offer cards, wallets and other payment methods to your customers. Which payment methods you can use depends on your agreement with Paytrim. Each payment method is activated per project.
Apple Pay
Accept Apple Pay on the hosted payment page or in your own checkout.
Google Pay
Accept Google Pay on the hosted payment page or in your own checkout.
Operations
Besides a regular payment, the API supports these operations. Not every payment method supports every operation: see the table below.
| Operation | What it does |
|---|---|
| Payment (sale) | Charges your customer straight away. The funds are captured as soon as the payment is authorized. This is the most common type of payment. |
| Pre-authorization | Reserves the amount on your customer's card without charging it. Use it when the final amount isn't known yet, for example for hotel bookings or rentals. You release what you don't need with a void. |
| Capture | Charges a pre-authorized amount, in full or in part. |
| Refund | Returns money to your customer for a completed payment, in full or in part. |
| Recurring payment | Charges your customer at intervals, for example for a subscription. Your customer authorizes the first payment; you initiate the next ones with the stored payment details. |
| One-click payment | Lets a returning customer pay with stored payment details, without entering their card number again. |
| Account funding (AFT) | An Account Funding Transaction uses your customer's card to top up another account, such as a digital wallet, prepaid card or brokerage account. Needs extra registration with the card schemes and isn't available for every business. |

Payment method values
To pick the payment method yourself instead of letting your customer choose on the hosted payment page, set payment_method on the transaction when you create the order. Use the same values in the payment_methods list to limit the choice on the hosted payment page.
| Value | Payment method |
|---|---|
credit-card | Used for card payments like Mastercard and Visa |
apple-pay | Apple Pay |
google-pay | Google Pay |
Refunds of card payments appear as a separate transaction with payment method credit-card-refund. You don't send this value yourself: see Refunds.
Other payment methods
Depending on your agreement, you can also offer PayPal, SEPA Direct Debit, Bancontact, Swish, Vipps MobilePay and Billink. These payment methods appear on the hosted payment page once they're active in your project.
